About Pajūris Regional Park

Pajūris Regional Park, located along the Baltic Sea coast in Klaipėda County, Lithuania, protects approximately 16 kilometers of pristine seashore, sandy beaches, coastal dunes, and adjoining forests and wetlands. Established in 1992, the park encompasses diverse ecosystems including dynamic dune fields, beach meadows, and coastal pine forests, creating vital habitats for numerous plant and animal species, some of which are rare or protected. The park’s geography is dominated by dramatic shifting dunes and sandy beaches that attract both nature enthusiasts and beachgoers. Visitors enjoy walking or cycling along well-maintained trails that wind through forests and along the shore, providing stunning views of the Baltic Sea. The area also contains numerous historical sites and cultural landmarks, including traditional fisherfolk villages and ancient burial mounds, reflecting the region’s rich heritage. Birdwatchers find Pajūris especially rewarding due to its role as a stopover for migratory birds and the presence of various rare species. Recreational activities such as hiking, biking, beachcombing, and nature photography are popular year-round, with summertime bringing ample opportunities for swimming and sunbathing on the clean sandy beaches.
